Octopus Oddities – Kick Start

Ahiahi mārie – (Good afternoon) everyone! Today for my blog post I’m going to be talking about octopuses! Octopuses are a clever sea animal that lives in the ocean. It has eight soft arms, no bones, and can squeeze into very small spaces. Octopuses are known for their intelligence and can change color to hide from predators or communicate. They move by crawling along the ocean floor or by shooting water to swim quickly away.

Three things that I’ve learned about Octopuses are, they can be camouflaged, which means they can blend into their surroundings. Next, they have three hearts and finally did you know some Octopuses have blue blood?! Fascinating right?

Lastly, I had to draw an octopus and I think I did pretty great, but don’t get fooled, because I traced it! Anyways thank you to everyone who took a look at my blog. Make sure to leave a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment!

Turbo’s Upgrade! – Step it up

Malo ‘e lelei bloggers! Today for my 2nd SLJ activity I had to upgrade Turbo’s trolley! The three options were;

The Snack Dispenser 5000

The Auto-Cooling System

The Turbo Booster.

I chose “The Auto-Cooling System,” because if Turbo got too hot or if he would get tired from running, then the fan would automatically turn on and cool him off. Cool idea right? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading and taking a look at my blog!

Legs Legs Legs? – Kick Start

Hola everyone! Today for my SLJ activity I had to make a copy of a template named “Mosha’s Special Leg,” the reason it’s named Mosha’s special leg is because when Mosha was only seven months old, she stood on a landmine. Her front leg was destroyed, and people thought she would never survive, but a group of people worked really hard and made a new leg for her. Anyways back to the activity, I had to make a copy of the template and make a new leg for Mosha on Google drawings, and the reason I chose the love heart pattern and the elephant photo was because adding the love heart seemed like so much love in her leg, and I decided to add the elephant photo because it seemed funny and everytime people see it they can have a little giggle. Anyways this activity was so entertaining and funny at the same time! Once again I had so much fun creating this and I hope everyone enjoyed my blog post!

Hasta luego – See you later!

Wētā Punga – He taumata anō / Step it up

Kia ora everyone! Today for my new SLJ activity I made some playdough and since I couldn’t really understand the other activity. I just thought I would label the Wētā Punga in english. It took some time to research some of the labeling, but I knew some of the other ones, like taringa which means ear and waewae which means leg. The activity which was most difficult was probably labeling the Wētā Punga, because I couldn’t understand much, but I tried my best. Lastly for the playdough I didn’t have most of the ingredients that I was supposed to use to make the playdough so I improvised and used;

2 cup of flour

1/2 of salt

100 ml of boiling water

(I didn’t use any vegetable oil)

Finally, for the coloring of my choice I chose pink, because I had no other colors.

Anyways, make sure to leave a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment!

Sorry, I did not want to show my face!

Wētā Punga – He tīmatanga / Kick Start

Kia ora everyone! Today for my 2nd SLJ activity, I had to watch a video of a Wētā and draw a Wētā Punga. It was really hard to draw the Wētā Punga because I couldn’t quite get the legs right, but I think I still did a pretty great job! It was also really hard trying to read the activity because I couldn’t understand Māori, but I still managed. This activity was amazing, but also really difficult! I hope everyone enjoyed my blog post!

Legs Tally – Kick Start

Kia ora everyone! Today for my SLJ activity I did some math questions based on a centipede, this activity was interesting, fun and simple! Fun fact! Did you know centipedes can actually regrow their legs. If they lose one, they can grow it back during their next molt. Handy for escaping predators! Cool right? Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed my blog today!

Art in the Web – Step it up

Malo e lelei everyone! It’s Kalisi again, and this time for the SLJ activity we had to create a spider with toilet paper cardboard, and I tried to cut up some paper to create a spider-web, but it ended up looking like a snowflake. (It was my 3rd attempt) The toilet paper one was so easy, but the spider-web one was really hard! Did you know that some spiders can recycle their webs! They often eat parts of their old webs to regain the silk protein, which they then use to build a new one! Interesting right? Anyways I hope everyone enjoyed my blog.

Art in the Web – Kick Start

Kia Orana everyone! Today for my SLJ activity I had to draw two different spider-webs, which was really easy and creative! Also, did you know that a spider’s web is made out of liquid silk that hardens when exposed to air. Interesting right!? Anyways this activity was amazing, and I hope everyone enjoyed my blog post!

E no’o ora (Goodbye!)

Teaser Week – Step it Up ( Critters with Super-powers)

Bula Vinaka everyone! Today my class did a SLJ activity, and the activity was about creating your own animal with super-powers! My animal is mixed with a Lion (which is the main animal), a dragon and a lizard. This activity was really fun, and I hope to do it again!
